Well it hasn’t quite been the sunny, dry start to the summer term we were expecting with Youth Sessions running outside on the Rec! This hasn’t stopped any of the fun at Tetbury Youth Club however and we have kept dry and warm inside making pancakes, pasta dinners, pizzas and some lovely crafts. It also hasn’t put off any of our young people with our numbers being higher than ever.
Our sessions are drop-in meaning that young people are free to come and go during the 2hr session, when we have enough volunteers/youth workers in on a Monday night you will often see a couple of us youth workers wandering around the Rec in our bright blue t-shirts, we try to come out when we can and offer a trusted adult for the young people who choose to spend their evening enjoying the wonderful space on the Rec and for them to know we are there if they need us. This is only possible when we have enough adults running the indoor youth club and as always we rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers for this to be possible. Please do make contact if you have an odd evening here and there that you think you might be able to spend with us, we can promise a fun evening full of laughs and there is always food!
We are excited to get outside in the coming weeks and enjoy the sports equipment, games and camping chairs that are sitting so patiently waiting for the sun to come out and for us to use.
A huge thank you goes to Steve and Jas at Cirencester Judo Club for running a youth female self-defense session for us. This was such a fun evening and the girls who attended got so much out of it. We were so impressed by the girls and the Judo leaders commented on what a brilliant group they were. The girls learnt to use their voices assertively and gained confidence in doing so, they learned techniques that can be used to keep them safe and also what amazing things their bodies can do. They should feel really proud and we hope to be able to run another session soon.
We have a packed activity schedule for the May half term week with a Textiles Workshop opportunity at Highgrove Traditional Crafts and a drop-in youth session on the Rec for young people.
The Bloodhound Project will be visiting Tetbury also, they run fun STEM activities for children and are also community connectors meaning they can help all eligible families to access HAF activities over the school holidays, make sure you come and say hi to them. We have the fantastic Play Gloucestershire visiting us to provide play opportunities for all the family at the Playpark and on another day World Jungle will be bringing some fun and engaging activities for all ages too. How incredibly lucky we are in Tetbury to have such exciting and varied opportunities available to our children and families over the school holidays.
Details of all events can be found on our social media pages so please follow us to make sure you know what is on and when.
